Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children later on, realized early that she could escape suffering through her vivid imagination. Prior to learning how to write or read she wrote herself songs. When she got her first instrument at age 8, she started to perform on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. She recorded her first album in the same calendar year with Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. Her name was made for herself locally while still in high school, however she always dreamed of having a bigger stage. The year 1964 was the day after her high school graduation, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her first two charting albums for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time was searching for a girl to sing on his show. Parton took the job in the year 1966. She was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. Parton left the show however, in 1974 due to her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums. The song by Parton, I Will Never Have Love for You (for Wagoner), hit the top of the. #1 spot following their split. #1 for the first time in 1974.
