Heidi Watney was born May 19th 1981. She is an American sportscaster. She graduated from the University of San Diego, her previous experience in sportscasting includes the roles of MLB Network, New England Sports Network in Boston, Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles, and two stations in Fresno. Watney was a Clovis West High School student in Fresno. She competed in gymnastics as well as hurdles and diving. She was an National Merit Scholar, and she attended the University of San Diego as an academic scholarship. She was awarded an honors degree in 2003. Watney was the Miss California USA 2002 runner-up. Watney is the cousin of professional golfer Nick Watney. [7] Andy Weir, author of The Martian science fiction novel said that Watney was his name and he wrote the character Mark Watney from it. He heard her name on the Red Sox broadcast. Watney appears in the music video for Dropkick Murphys ?T single "Going Out in Style".
